Sep 25 - Oct 10 is Banned Book Week

Banned Books Week takes place from September 25 to October 2, 2010 with events taking place in libraries and bookstores all over the country.

In January of 2010 an anniversary version of The Diary of Anne Frank was banned from being taught in a Virginia school system’s classrooms, although the book was kept on school library shelves.  The edition included diary passages that were not included in the original publication of the book and “a parent complained that the book includes sexually explicit material and homosexual themes,” according to The Washington Post.

Buy a copy of The Diary of Anne Frank and give it away, just on general principles.
